Friday, Sept. 29 – Coffee with Principal Annie (8-8:30), Grout T-shirt Day, Pick up your SCRIP orders
- Come join Principal Annie in the cafeteria on Friday morning for a chance to chat about what’s happening at Grout. This is a new monthly event that will be happening on the last Friday of each month.
- SCRIP orders will be available to pick up at this coffee, or after that in the office. If you can’t pick up your orders from either of those places, please let me know and we’ll figure out a way to get your cards to you.
- For those of you waiting for your new Grout shirts, they are ordered but mostly likely will not be available for this first Grout shirt day. They are coming your way!
Friday, Sept. 29 – Spare Change Challenge
By now I’m sure you’ve heard we are fundraising for a new playground structure. We want to be able to include the students on the project so that they can have some ownership of this project too. The PTA is starting a Spare Change Challenge which you may have read about in the Thursday announcement. The PTA plans to collect spare change from classrooms once a month for four months in the fall on the last Friday of the month (AKA Grout T-shirt Day):
The classroom that collects the most money at each grade level will win a prize. The classroom that collects the most money overall will win a special prize. The winners will be announced in January.
Friday, Sept. 29 – Dutch Brothers supports YMCA at Grout
Dutch Brothers will be donating $1 from each drink sold that day to after school care at Grout.

I love the fashion show that occurs on this day!
Wednesday, Oct. 4 – International Walk and Bike to School Day
Join one of the two bike parades heading to Grout, or walk or bike and join the celebration on 32nd – including a bike mechanic, prizes and fun times.
Thursday, Oct. 5 – PTA Meeting, 6:30
Thursday, Oct. 12 – Movie Night at Grout featuring ‘Sing’
Friday, Oct. 13 – No School
Did you know you can still join the PTA or order Chinook books? You can order Chinook books online at https://chinook.co/groutelementary and the proceeds will go to Grout. Or you can contact me or the office and we’ll set you up with as many as you want. I used mine today and saved $5 at a store, just sayin’.
Does your employer match volunteer time in donations or volunteers? If they do, let us know! We’ve had great success in the past with Kohl’s providing volunteers and then matching their volunteer time with a donation. Many other employers, like US Bank or Intel, offer similar programs. And then the best part is you don’t get nearly as many emails asking you to volunteer at PTA events. Actually, the best part is the funding that goes to support our Grout students!
