This week at Grout: Dec 4th-8th

Here’s what is happening around Grout this week:

Wednesday, Dec. 6 – Pizzacato pre-orders due

Place your pre-order by this date and then pick up your pizza at school during pick up on the 12th! Drop your order off with the office by 2pm on the 6th. Checks should be made payable to Grout PTA. Attached is the menu and order form.

Thursday, Dec. 7 – Drama night for Ms. Bilter’s class

Friday, Dec. 8 – SCRIP orders available for pick up in the office

Friday, Dec. 8 – Kids Night Out

Mrs. Crouser’s daughter’s Girl Scout troop will be holding a group baby-sitting event this evening with fun activities. My kids have done it in the past and had a blast. $20 per child and you need to rsvp to Mrs. Crouser to reserve a spot.

Looking ahead:

Thursday, Dec. 14 – PTA Presents at Kateri Park: DHS and a Conversation about Child Welfare

This will not be a typical PTA General Meeting. We have representatives coming from DHS to present on what DHS (Department of Human Services) does, what it means when they are called, who can call, and what happens after they are called. If anyone does have PTA business that needs to be discussed, please let me know and they would be welcome to come to the PTA Board meeting (this Wednesday) or let me know what needs to be discussed.

Friday, Dec. 15 – Grout T Shirt Day, Coffee with Principal Annie, Last Day of the Spare Change Challenge

So far, the spare change challenge has brought in $1300! In next week’s update, I’ll post the top three classrooms, although the race is tight!

Volunteers NEEDED

We are looking for volunteers for our assigned time to help out at the PTA Clothing Closet on Thursday, January 4th, which is our first week back from break.  Here is information about what volunteers do. Volunteers are needed from 9:30-1:30, though you can just do a shift if necessary. The Clothing Center is located at the Marshall Campus, off of Powell and 92nd. We are supposed to send 6-8 volunteers. Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering. I did it last year and really enjoyed helping out.

We are getting close to our goal!

A big thank you to everyone that has donated to our playground fund so far this year! As of this week, we have collected $40,000 of our $60,000 goal! As 2017 draws to a close, we will be working on getting our tax receipts to everyone that has donated. If you donated $100 or more (even if it wasn’t all at the same time), you should be hearing from me by the end of the year to see how you’d like your name to read on the banner that we will be putting up. Haven’t donated? There’s still time! You can drop a check or cash off with the office (checks payable to Grout PTA), or you can go to http://www.groutplayground.com/ to make a donation online. All donations to Grout PTA are tax deductible.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Two more weeks until break – you can do it!
Take care,
Sue Ledgerwood
