Grout Elementary School is located in Portland, Oregon and has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that works on a variety of activities and events to support our kids, our school and our neighborhood community.
The PTA is a non-profit organization of parents, educators, students and community members who serve as volunteers for child advocacy. You can find more general information about the PTA by visiting the National PTA and Oregon PTA websites.
PTA is for Kids!
Joining the PTA is a way to help our children. It furthers the connection with your school and helps with your awareness of the happenings there. You can meet other parents and teachers, and share ideas and concerns. It’s a way to use your skills to help children, your neighborhood and yourself. Being a PTA member allows you to have an effective way to suggest change at our school. You also get discounts and deals with member benefit providers, like T-Mobile and Southwest Airlines!
Membership to the Grout PTA (includes the State and National levels) is $10 per adult per year. These dues assist the Oregon PTA to provide trainings, advocacy, and online and written materials (including publications.) A portion of the dues goes directly to Grout PTA activities. To join, download the form here (even though it is last year’s form, it will still work) and bring it to the school office (3119 SE Holgate Blvd) with your check or money order. You may also join online at the Oregon PTA website.
In the example of the National Parent Teacher Organization, the Daniel A. Grout PTA serves the purpose of being:
- A powerful voice for all children
- A relevant resource for families and communities
- A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child
The Daniel A. Grout PTA serves as forum where parents, teachers, administrators and other concerned adults discuss ways to promote quality education, strive to expand the arts, encourage community involvement and work for a healthy environment and safe neighborhood.
